Sandy Rapp Receives 2024 Ohio ORBIE Award for Top CIO in Large Enterprise
WESTLAKE, OH - TravelCenters of America is pleased to announce Sandy Rapp, SVP and CIO was named winner of the Ohio ORBIE award in the Large Enterprise Category. The ORBIE Awards is the premier technology executive recognition program in Ohio honoring CIOs who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership.
Finalists and winners are selected by an independent peer review process led by previous ORBIE recipients based on:
- Leadership and management effectiveness
- Business value created by technology innovation and,
- Engagement in industry and community endeavors

Sandy has more than 30 years of executive leadership experience in information systems. She joined TA in 2020 as SVP and CIO where she leads a team of 250. In addition to supporting the technology for multiple brands of diesel and gas canopies and convenience stores, Sandy and her team oversee the technology management of 40 different full-service and quick-service restaurant branded technologies and TA’s proprietary platforms. Sandy’s expertise in IT management played a significant role in TA’s technology transformation leading up to the acquisition of TA by bp in 2023.
Sandy has been an active advocate for helping women find their voice at work and for young girls to expand their interests and potential career choices by exploring STEM courses. She is the executive sponsor of TA WIN (Women International Network) and is a board member of the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio.
In 2019, Sandy was a recipient of a Simonetti Distinguished Business Alumni by The University of Akron and in 2016 she was named CIO of the Year in the Public Company category by Crain’s Cleveland Business. She was also selected by ExecRank as a top Chief Information Officer in 2014. In 2008, she was named CIO of the Year in the Small Company category by the Northeast Ohio Software Association.
Sandy was awarded the Ohio ORBIE for top CIO of a large enterprise at a special ceremony last week in Columbus.
